The Safe & Secure Program helps Long Beach businesses make their storefronts safer. The program offers two levels of funding based on business size. Businesses with storefronts of 1,500 square feet or less may receive grants of up to $750 for security upgrades, including cameras, floodlighting, alarm systems, and point-of-sale systems. Businesses with storefronts between 1,500 and 5,000 square feet, or with 25 or more linear feet of street frontage, may qualify for grants of up to $1,500 for security upgrades, including cameras, floodlighting, alarm systems, and point-of-sale systems. The higher funding level is intended to support more comprehensive security installations, including point-of-sale systems that can reduce cash exposure and help deter crime. Security enhancements must have been purchased on or after January 1, 2026 to qualify for the reimbursement. Together, we're keeping Long Beach safe, secure, and open for business.
Eligibility Requirements
Other
- Must have a City of Long Beach business license. The business must hold an active business license or be current on a payment plan for their license fees. Businesses that have closed or canceled their licenses are not eligible for the program.
- Be an independently-owned and operated business that is not publicly traded (franchises are eligible)
- Business must hold 'ACTIVE' status with the California Secretary of State for corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships
- Storefront size must be verified through a lease agreement, floor plan, or property records to determine applicable grant tier
- Provide photo identification for verification purposes (e.g., Driver’s License, State-issued ID, Passport, etc.)
- Must be currently open and active for business
- Must be a private for-profit business including sole proprietorships or 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
- Must have a physical location accessible to the public (e.g., storefront, office, commercial facility). Home-based businesses are not eligible.
- At least two different photo's of the safety enhancements must be provided. Photo's need to include the installed security enhancements that were purchased.
- Safety enhancements must have been purchased on or after January 1, 2026 to be considered for the grant reimbursement

- Earn no more than $5 million in annual gross revenue
Residency
- Must operate a publicly accessible storefront and be physically located within the boundaries of Long Beach, California (a valid street address is required; PO Boxes or shipping center addresses are not eligible)
